This workshop took place in Brussels. The following presentations were made:

• "Business issues for Centres of Competence"
  - Vincent Everts - Media Plaza

Among the introductions made there was also a short presentation given by Joao Falcao e Cunha on "The ICNET Centre of Excellence Innovating and Competing with the Internet".

The workshop had appointed Michael O'Shea as the Rapporteur. A report of this and the second workshop is available.
