This Centre advises organisations on using the Internet for process innovation and for improving their competitive situation. The centre is involved in several projects with established Portuguese companies, such as ADIRA (machine tools), A. M. MESQUITA (civil engineering) and SITIO (Internet start-up business-to-consumer operation). Its members are involved in several direct awareness initiatives, and have conducted several studies of Portuguese SMEs and other Industrial Companies regarding the use of new Technology and new Systems. GEIN, where the Centre is located, is the Industrial Management Unit of FEUP, the leading provider of industrial management skills for engineers and scientists in the Northern Region of Portugal.
