  • From the outset, online discussion and question-answering has been an integral part of the site
  • In 1996, user requests led to an innovative "Recently Change Pages" facility, which is still an unusual feature on any web site.
  • At the beginning of 1997, eleven "national" telework sites linked with European Telework Online; this network continues to grow with a current total of 26 countries.
  • At Europe's main IT Research conference and exhibition (November 1997) the site marked it's one millionth visitor.
  • In January 1998 the open Events Calendar was launched - enabling any site user to add and modify information about their own events online and without any html knowledge or other special skills.
  • This was followed in May 1998 by the Resources Database, now the world's largest collection of descriptions and links to telework and related information.
  • The site remains entirely independent. Paid advertising was introduced in December 1999.
  • Since early 2000, the site has been the main online source for the prestigious EITO Reports, which have been purchased through European Telework Online by users in forty countries, including national governments, leading consultancy practices and finance houses, as well as individuals.

The site scores exceptionally highly on these metrics, with typical monthly average dwell time rising each month over the life of the site and now running at more than 18 minutes, and between 4-5 page views per visit.
