Projects and Initiatives in Switzerland

There are various official and commercial telework projects in Switzerland, but most of them at an initial stage.

Europe's way to the information society: an action plan4" The swiss federal administration has established a coordinating group in order to facilitate active participation of Switzerland in the Pilot Projects.

Swiss parliament: summer session 96. "Interpellation Onken" Concerning the change to remote working instead of reducing federal jobs in remote areas.

Swiss Publications

"Telework - from fiction to Innovation" by Carlo Jaeger, Liesbeth Bieri und Gregor Dürrenberger. An essential study on teleworking in Switzerland. A national research project, printed in 1987.

"Workingplace Internet" - Format NZZ, a TV-series by "Neue Zürcher Zeitung", offers to order a videocasette on telework. Different portraits of people living on telework are introduced by a short but interesting text. Including linklist.

The Swiss writer and computer specialist Emil Zopfi reflects on telework in his essay titled: "Telework instead of emigration".

Recent Swiss newspaper articles in German language:

Die Arbeit kommt nach Hause Published at "Brückenbauer". "Work comes to your home". A broad article on telework in Switzerland plus an interiew with professor Eberhard Ulich from the ETH Zürich.

Teleworking bei DEC - PC-Tip: In june 97 the computerfirm Digital opened up a teleworking business center for 150 sales managers.- Interview with Urs Fischer, President of Digital Switzerland.

Swiss Associations

i.s.p.s - information society project switzerland . As a virtual window on Swiss projects related to the Information Society, ISPS' mission is to publicize Switzerland's technological potential, facilitate know-how and information exchanges as well as promote and pursue synergetic effects among the Information Society players.

The Swiss Association Policom is dealing in public and non-profit telematics.

Job opportunities and vacancies for teleworkers in Switzerland other than Telework Unlimited

A Swiss firm called Telinex plans to build a market for telework job opportunities. They also deal in teletrade.

Under the name of Zutt und Partner a promotion firm is planing to construct an information platform for people interested in telework. At this adress you also find a few articels and studies on telework. The whole is still under construction.

For those with email and www access, the main ETO website provides European and International information in English and some of this information will be available in local languages as the network of ETO site develops.
