Research

  • TecO - Telecooperation Office
    The Telecooperation Office (TecO) was founded in 1993 by the University of Karlsruhe and the Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) of Digital Equipment with the mission of applied research and technology transfer in the area of telematics.
  • TKT - Institute for Telecooperation Technology
    TKT is one of eight research institutes of the GMD - German National Research Center for Information Technology GmbH. TKT was founded in 1973 and is located in Darmstadt, Germany.

Higher Education

    Academics were among the first groups to use electronic networking for exchanging information and cooperating on joint projects. As networks have expanded, major teaching projects have been added to their range of activities.

  • BA Information Technology in Society - 'Telematics Systems and Practices'
    A course run at the Manchester Metropolitan University, making extensive use of the internet and World Wide Web for the presentation of teaching materials.
  • Distance Teaching of Artificial Intelligence
    An on-line course centred at Kingston University, School of Information Systems, led by Dr Chris Hutchinson as part of the ERASMUS Inter-University Cooperation Programme.
  • The International Education Forum
    The International Education Forum provides resources in International Educational Mobility, Intercultural Area Studies and Telematics Training for International Educators worldwide, especially for those whose work involves Europe or the United States of America.

CSCW

  • CSCW Research Group
    The Research Group on Computer Supported Cooperative Work studies the problems of working groups distributed in time and space and develops adequate support systems.

Working Together

  • The TRUST Group
    Formed in 1996 by a small group of freelance computer programmers, systems analysts and IT consultants, as a means of sharing work opportunities and experience. The group communicates almost entirely on-line using e-mail and newsgroups.
