The ACTS programme: Advanced Communications Technologies and Services

The ACTS Telework/Telecooperation Chain

ACTS is one of the European Union's main programmes supporting research and technology development. The ACTS Telework/Telecooperation Chain links the ACTS programme to users and suppliers of relevant products and services in the context of telework and telecooperation, and to the relevant policy processes supporting Europe's development towards an Information Society.

Objective

The Chain seeks to support beneficial development of telework and telecooperation by Europe's citizens, enterprises and institutions by strengthening understanding of user needs among the ACTS projects, and by helping users and others to understand and prepare for future technologies, products and services. Among other things this means

Participation

The main participants in the Chain are ACTS projects that have a particular interest in telework and telecooperation or whose results are likely to have a high level of significance of telework and telecooperation users. A list of the projects currently participating in the work of the chain is at http://www.eto.org.uk/gat/gat-proj.htm

As the work of the Chain develops, we also seek to connect with and involve a wider group of interested parties. To keep informed about the work of the Chain there is a mailing list that you can join.

Guidelines

An important aspect of the Chain's activities is the creation of Guidelines that will assist users, suppliers and policy makers to understand and respond to critical issues associated with Europe's adoption telework and telecooperation methods.

Current Workplan

The current workplan, dates of meetings and other background information can be found at the Chain's website - http://www.eto.org.uk/gat.

Other ACTS Chains

The Telework and Telecooperation Chain is one of a series of ACTS Chains working in the general area of General Access to Technologies and Applications (GA = General Access, the Telework and Telecooperation Chain is therefore GAT). There are also other groups of Chains focused on other aspects of technologies and the Information Society, for a complete list of these and other ACTS Programme activities see the ACTS Information Window (InfoWin).
