ACTS Telework Chain (GAT: General Access - Telework)
GAT Chain Meeting 27 June 1996 - Follow Up Points
A. Preliminary notes:
Representatives of three new ACTS projects - still to be formally contracted
by the Commission were present at the meeting : DIPLOMAT, ETD (European
TeleworkDevelopment), TEESURA.
Extended time was spent during the meeting at discussing:
- The potential of an overlap between ETD and other activities, such
as ECTF and DIPLOMAT.
- How the Chain will do its work, rather than what this work will consist
of.
The following conclusions are drawn from the discussions:
- Although there should be no overlap, close coordination and cooperation
between ETD and DIPLOMAT will be highly desirable.
- The contribution of ETD-WP1 (support the Chain Internal Concertation
activities) will be essential to the progress of the Chain work.
- ETD-WP1 should work closely with the Chairman at organising the Chain
work.
B. ACTION POINTS for ETD - WP1 and Chain Secretariat
1. Obtain and circulate the latest list of project mini-profiles.
Indeed, discrepancies were found between the list distributed at the meeting,
and that contained in the Telework 1996 report from the Commission. The
latter seems to be the most upto date of both.
Status:
The ACTS 1996 publication from DG XIII/B is now the definitive version,
and profiles of chain projects can be accessed at ETD's website European
Telework Online. Any projects wanting to have additional descriptions
of their work or links to project sites from the ETD
site, should please send the relevant details to etd-info@eto.org.uk.
2. Set rules for projects participating in the Chain, what
output is expected, who does what, who gets what credit, etc.
Status:
The Commission has produced a new brief that clarifies the meaning of Guidelines
and this will now be used as the focus for future work (see http://www.eto.org.uk/gat/acts/guide1.htm).
3. Research other projects to participate in the Chain
and inform on results.
Status:
Being pursued by GAT Secretariat, but hampered by having GAT meeting separate
from GA and other concertations - GAT will be represented at other Chain
/ Domain meetings whenever possible.
C. ACTION POINTS for all Chain Participants
1. Project survey questionnaires : design a framework, with input
from TEESURA.
Note: to be reviewed based on Commission guidance.
2. Chain deliverables : narrow in, define and prioritize,
the contents.
Note: now based on additional guidance from the Commission.
3. Telework Guidelines:
- (All) fill in and return asap the questionnaire distributed at the
meeting.
- (ETD) produce a draft report by end Sep 96.
- All) participate in a discussion round during Oct 96.
- (ETD) present the final report at the 4th Chain
meeting in Vienna, 04 Nov 96.
Note: the draft report was held awaiting Commission guidance,
but will be circulated prior to 04 Nov.
