Europe's Fifth Framework ProgrammeThese pages are presented by European Telework Development with support from European Telework Online to assist wider understanding and participation in Europe's forthcoming actions to develop a "user-friendly information society" - Europe's Fifth Framework Programme for Research and Technology Development - which was launched in February 1999. Although there is background on the overall programme our main focus is the IST (Information Society Technologies) Programme. Key news items are notified from day to day in the European Telework Online discussion and announcement lists. Events are listed in the Open Events Calendar (Amended 19 Mar 99) The first call for proposals in the IST Programme was launched on 19th March 1999. There are calls for both fixed deadline and continuing submission proposals. "Fixed deadline" proposals must be submitted by 19th June 1999. Copies of the English language documents are provided here. Some of the documents are also available in other languages at the IST Programme website. News we learn about the IST programme is published through the announcements mailing list at http://webboard.eto.org.uk/~telework. Targeted Socio-Economic Research Activity 2: IST Programme: Creating a User Friendly Information Society Please note that these pages include interpretation of published and working documents of the European Commission, the Parliament and the Council, together with inputs from people and projects who have been and are engaged in the process of shaping the programme. They are provided for initial information only and companies or individuals considering participation in the programme should consult the published Calls for Proposals and other official documents as they become available. ETD is not able to answer individual questions, but welcomes suggestions and ideas for pojects from those intending to participate. There will be a separate section of these pages outlining the support for projects available from ETD and its associates. Those with a serious interest in participation are srongly advised to track the official documentation. We hope these pages will help with understanding and interpretation and perhaps with ideas for projects and initiatives in the particular aspects listed above. |
