Telecooperation in the ETD Initiative

The European Telework Development Initiative (ETD) of the European Commission's (DGXIII) ACTS Programme - which supports the ETO site - is itself an example of telecooperation in practice:
  • The idea for ETD was first discussed using telecooperation methods between people in the UK, Denmark and Belgium; the two main proposers of the Initiative first met through open telecooperation across the Internet.

  • The main team for the Initiative was assembled on a telecooperation basis and worked on developing the proposals for six months before they first met in one place face-to-face. The team included people working in Spain, France and Sweden as well as Denmark, Belgium and the UK.

  • The Initiative uses telecooperation methods as its main internal management and coordination method, connecting individuals and organisations in all the countries of Europe and our International associates.

  • The Initiative supports the introduction of telecooperation methods by others, either through provision of facilities here at the European Telework Online site, through similar support from our National Coordinators, or through assistance to other initiatives.
