About The Logo:

The letter "E" can be seen as a mirror image on the left (though you may see it as outside the logo with the prongs coming in).

The slanting "T" represents flexibility (as in flexible working) and its upward movement signifies the growth of "T"eleworking.

"D" is in the background supporting the development. It blends with the European Union's "Circle of Stars", which overlays and supports the ETD project.

European Telework Online was established in 1995 to support the first European Telework Week. For more information about the site, its history, scope and performance, see Web Site Performance.

The logo can also be viewed as a plug, that connects the people of Europe and of the world, into a universal network utility - the information superhighway. European Telework Online makes connections between users, suppliers, enterprises, teleworkers, policy makers. The logo therefore also signifies our role as a connector.

About the Designer

The logo was designed for ETD by Sonny Nakai of IN-Design, Järvenpää, Finland.

He says:

"It is my luckiest moment to have the opportunity to design the ETD logo and introduce myself in this page. I was born in Tokyo in 1949. I came to Finland in 1970 and studied graphic arts at the University of Industrial Art Helsinki. During 5 years of studies, I learned a lot about creative attitude. Living in Finland I am surrounded by nature - thousands of lakes and green forests in summer that turn into white vistas in winter.

I have been running my own graphic design studio named IN-Design since 1986, creating mostly commercial designs, such as brochures, annual reports, magazine advertisements, corporate magazines, trade marks and so on, for international corporations. My company joined the telework organization Taitoverkko of Finland in 1995.

Through teleworking, I like getting to know new clients and friends across five continents of the world, both for commercial reasons and for exchanging cultural interests, also to enjoy ourselves together.

Through ETD, let's get plugged in together!"
