An empty white board with 5 columns was the starting point for this working session, facilitated by Mr. Horace MITCHELL, Programme Director of the European Telework Development Initiative (ETD), a project supported by the European Commission DG XIII which has as one of its main tasks to support the European Telework Week initiative. Participants were asked to fill in for each of the columns ("Local", "Regional", "National", "European", and "International") which kind of activities they would like to develop. This resulted in the following list of ideas:
| Demonstration days - presenting technology and techniques to local businesses | Show-bus tour demonstrating at Universities and public places | National debate on rethinking the need to commute and pollute | Online debate on perceptions of telework | Linkage with Australian, Canadian and USA experiences and activities |
| Exhibits in public libraries, Town Halls etc | Joint initiative with Committee of Regions representatives | Launch of a national telework association | Online map of European telework centres | WebCast initiative |
| Projects to connect local schools to the world of work | Involvement of Members of the European Parliament | National skills and opportunities exchange | Adoption of telework by European Commission | Global element in Telework Awards |
| Local press, radio and TV projects | Regional Economic Development Online initiative | National press, radio and TV projects | Video links to bring European dimension to local events | Video links for famous name participation |
| Work-at-Home Day | ||||
| Note that all local, national ideas are relevant also at regional level! | Note the added value opportunity of bringing European and/or International linkages into your local or regional or national events! |
Generation of this list (and all the many ideas not captured here) proved that there is more than seminars. Another message that clearly came out is that, what is wrong for you, can still be right for someone else (and the other way around!).
