European Telework Week 1997 - Information Day 18 April 1997

European Assembly on Telework and New Ways of Working:
Telework97 - Stockholm 24-26 September 1997

Telework97 will focus on the practical implementation of teleworking, on good practices and on effective applications. The aim is also to provide valuable input for future decision making concerning teleworking and the Information Society, for the private and public sectors, for individuals and for policy makers.

Best Practice Exemplars

At Telework97, the 100 "best examples of good practice" will be presented. Exemplars will be invited in 11 categories:

  1. SMEs and Micro Enterprises
  2. Large Companies/organisations
  3. Rural areas
  4. Urban areas
  5. Public sector applications
  6. Quality of life
  7. Telework technology and new applications
  8. ICT-enabled cultural work
  9. Women Entrepreneurs in the Information Society
  10. Young people
  11. Good ideas for the Future

A closer description on each category, as well as the way to submit cases, will be made known at the Telework97 website towards the end of April 1997.

The Conference

The conference offers several parallel tracks, running through the whole event, inviting interaction between the participants. Plenary sessions, workshops and demonstrations will take place. Within the framework of the conference the International Award for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Research, instituted by NUTEK, Telia AB and the Swedish Foundation for Small Business Research (FSF), will be awarded for the second time.

Associated Activities

As it stands, today, the following events will be organised in conjunction with the Assembly:

The inauguration on Wednesday 24 September will be held at 14:00 h. by Mayor Mats HULT, with opening address by the Swedish Minister of Communications and Transport Ines UUSMANN, and keynote speeches by DGXIII of the European Commission, representativess from Industry (IBM, Canon, Telia), ILO, and the Swedish Minister of Equal Opportunities Ms. Ulrika MESSING. The conference is expected to close at Friday 26 September at 13:00 h.
