European Telework Week: 4-11 November 1996

Country Report - Spain

In Spain the principal activities were a promotional stand and a conference at the SIMO TCI 96 show.

Ciberteca prepared a distribution of information packs and also invitations to educational institutions, clients and companies in the City of Madrid, to attend the event at the Azca complex.

After that, Ciberteca spent some time explaining about the conference and activities and plans of ETD in Spain for the next three years, during SIMO TCI. Ciberteca gave information about its project in the Universidad Autanoma de Madrid and its project of Telecentres in the context of current network of cybercafes and various institutions (culture houses in councils, interest groups, self-employment, etc.). After this, Ciberteca assumed the task of preparing and promoting a report of it's roll in the ETD program, and its report of "How to make a cybercentre?"

Ciberteca also promoted the role of the ETD program through the "Europe FM" radio station (Navigator's flight channel), and was able to contribute to several special radio broadcasts on teleworking.

The Madrid conference was entitled "Debate about Teleworking" and the headlines were:

"Teleworking and Teletrade"
"Vienna, Third Conference about Teleworking"
"The new infolitic economy"
"The reasons for change"

There was also a presentation on the European projects DIPLOMAT and ETD. Main speakers were: Eduardo Barrera and Javier Poves. The meeting concluded with a round table about acces to teleworking.

The collaborators were: SIMO TCI, Compaq Computers, AET, UNDESCO, Editores Asociados, Instituto de la Ingenieria de Espana y Ciberteca.

In the SIMO TCI 96 Show, Ciberteca and AET (the Spainish Teleworking Association) contacted three thousand individuals, and the conference was attended by about 80 people.
