e-Work Week 2000

A key activity in the European Telework Agenda

Please visit and support our sponsors:

e-Work Week 2000 runs from
30 October to 7 November
and is expected to reach a wider audience than ever - improving still further on the achievements of 1999.

There will be opportunities to stage local events, enter for and win European Telework Awards, or join the activity as a sponsor or partner, alongside the European Commission - and, of course, European Telework Online. Or you can simply attend an event near you and enjoy the experience.

e-Work Week now has it's own web site, linked below, where there is a registration of interest form.

Background: European Telework Week

Telework Week started in 1995 and has grown from a handful of activities in a few countries to more than 100 events including some in countries outside Europe. Estimated attendance has reached over 10,000 people, with millions more reached through a range of radio and TV activities. e-Work Week is the main outreach activity of the European Telework Agenda, alongside European Telework Online and the annual European Telework Assembly. European Telework Online was created to support the first telework week and has grown to be the world's most comprehensive and busiest telework site.
More background can be found at the e-Work Week web site.

Corporate Support
In 1995 the main support for Telework Week came from the European Commission and the European Telework Online web site, with a lot of voluntary work by activists in countries. For 1999 there were five main "corporate partners" - France Telecom, Telecom Italia, Siemens, Cisco, Toshiba - demonstrating the value placed on this event by leading players in the IT and telecommunications sectors. There are opportunities to partner with and benefit from e-Work Week at both European and national levels and also by supporting or organising specific activities.
More about partnering at the e-Work Week site.

European Telework Awards
Started in 1997, the European Telework Awards have created valuable publicity and credibility for the winners. It's easy to enter and a wide range of categories provides several opportunities to win an award:

  • Best example in a large organisation
  • Best example in a small or medium sized enterprise
  • Best supporting public initiative.
  • Best initiative supporting disadvantaged people
  • Best Contribution to Public Awareness
  • Best supporting Technology or Service

The winners of the 1999 Awards are at the e-Work Week web site:

A list of events will be available in the European Telework Online Events Calendar, where event organisers can post details of their events direct.

Key announcements are relayed through the European Telework discussion and announcements facilities.

Development of European Telework Online has been supported by ETD, an initiative of the European Commission (DGXIII) ACTS programme
