European Telework Development (ETD)

ETD and the Developers of Future Technologies and Services




One of the primary purposes of the ETD Initiative is to foster exchanges between the developers of future technologies and services having potentially an application in, or any other kind of impact on, telework, teletrade, telecooperation, and between these developers and the market place at large.

The initial focus is on research and development projects carried out under the Advanced Communications Technologies and Services (ACTS) programme of the European Commission, forming together the ACTS Telework Chain in order to implement an Internal Concertation mechanism.

The Chain has also an External Concertation agenda, whereby other EU supported initiatives are gradually being included in the process, such as : Furthermore, the ETD initiative comprises several technology 'outreach' programmes targeted at specific audiences across the economy and community: ETD has in place a strong information dissemination mechanism, consisting basically of:
ETD's stated goal is to move the European agenda on telework from research and discussion to action and implementation, and it is therefore seen as central that links are made between the developers and all other market actors and influencers and that these should be made fully aware of the enabling and facilitating roles of the new and emerging technologies.

How to get in touch and participate

We welcome participation by all projects and organizations involved in developing telework-related technologies and services, at both the European and local levels.
