Notes:
When considering telework and other new methods of work, whether as an organisation or as an individual, the range of possible questions and issues can appear formidable. The model presented here separates out five perspectives or contexts that experience shows to provide a useful and easily understood model for assessing the opportunities and issues and making appropriate decisions and plans.
The model originated in work done by Management Technology Associates for the UK Government (Trade and Industry Department) in the early 1990s, as part of an early assessment of information society opportunities and challenges for UK government and enterprises. It has been further refined as a result of inputs and discussions through the European Telework Online discussion forum and the work of the European Telework Development initiative.
