However, to ensure it is accepted and gets a good response please look at the notes below, which also explain other ways of connecting with your audience through the Telework Portal.
The European Telework Online portal is visited each month by tens of thousands of people who use it as their "first port of call" for information about telework, telecommuting, e-commerce, telecooperation, knowledge management, online working and related topics. Additionally,
European Telework Online provides discussion and announcement list facilities currently reaching more than 3,000 people in our English language list plus many more through the re-broadcasting of our messages in other lists and languages.
You can use these facilities to reach people online at zero cost with your announcement about any matter of genuine interest to our audiences. Below is a list of the facilities and how to use them.
Making an announcement
Post your announcement to eto-notices@eto.org.uk. It will be screened by a member of our site team and (if you follow the guidelines) will be re-posted to everyone on our lists. Please note the following guidelines:
Notices should be short! Put background details on the web and include the url in your notice.
You must include either a web url or an email address for follow up.
Commercial news items (events, products, services, new web sites etc) are welcome but should be short and informative, not advertising "puffs".
If you are announcing an event, please first put the details in our Events Calendar.
If you are announcing a product, service, project, programme, initiative, book, magazine, CD, video, TV or radio broadcast etc, please first put the details in our Resources Database.
Starting a discussion
In some cases, your announcement might spark off a discussion in the Telework Forum. If you want to get the maximum response from your announcement you should join the Telework Forum and follow through any responses there. Occasionally when you send us an announcement we will suggest that it would be better to only send the item to the Forum, not to the wider lists.
Excluded items
The following are excluded from our announcements lists and from the Telework Forum:
Advertising of all kinds except for genuine (and informative) announcements of events, products and services. Do not include superlatives or exclamation marks in the subject line or text of your message (eg "Greatest!"), this is likely to exclude your announcement. You can of course place paid advertising through European Telework Online.
Attachments - no attached files are transmitted to the Forum or the announcement lists. Put any background information on the web and include the url in your announcement. Suitable material can also be added to our pages at European Telework Online and/or indexed through our Events Calendar or Resources Database.
Other ways to get your message across
Here are some other ways to connect with a world wide audience through the Telework Portal:
The Events Calendar
Anyone can enter details of their event directly into the Calendar. Your entry will be edited by a member of the site team who will contact you if there are any questions. The Events Calendar is rated among the top twenty such services (by traffic level) world wide by the Event Organisers' Network ExpoWorld.com.
Resources Database
You can add your product, service, programme, web site, project, book, article, magazine etc into the Resources Database. This automatically ensures that it will appear in appropriate pages in the Telework Portal - listed as a "first page" find by most search engines.
Advertise in our pages
This is the most effective and lowest-cost way to get your product, service or other message across to telework, telecommuting and related audiences either world wide or country-by-country. Please see our Supplier pages for further information.
Become a sponsor
An even more powerful way to raise your profile with our audiences. Opportunities range from one-off support linked to a product launch, through to whole-site sponsorship. Please see our Sponsorship page for further information.
